You will need:
6 apples
1 - 14 oz package individually wrapped caramels, unwrapped
2 tablespoons milk
1/4 cup per apple of your favorite Sunflower Food & Spice Company products. We recommend Sunny Seed Drops, any of our six Honey Toasted nuts (Pecans, Cashews, Sunflower Nuts, Peanuts, Pistachios and Pumpkin Seeds) and our fruit and seed snack mixes (Cherry Berry Chocolate and Caramel Apple).

6 craft sticks Prepare apples. Remove the stem from each apple and press a craft stick into the top. Butter a baking sheet. Spread out each of the toppings you choose on individual plates.
Melt caramel. Place caramels and milk in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for two minutes, stirring once. Allow to cool briefly.
Coat the apples. Roll each apple quickly in caramel sauce until well coated. While the caramel apple is still warm and slightly sticky, hold the apple by the stick and roll the apple in the topping that you laid out. Place on prepared baking sheet and repeat for each apple.
Secure the goodies. After you have gotten pretty good topping coverage on your caramel apple, cover the apple with a damp paper towel and apply slight pressure to the toppings to insure that it will stick to the caramel coating. Let the caramel apples sit out and dry overnight to insure the best possible topping adhesion and flavor. |
